Replenishment Plan for All Cookies Containing Peanut Butter

In order to replenish product inventories impacted by this recall, a new peanut butter supplier has already been secured and new production is scheduled to start on January 26, 2009.  But demand for new peanut butter supplies is currently extremely high.  It will take a few weeks to completely rebuild adequate inventories on these impacted items.  Your Ralcorp Frozen Bakery Products sales representative will update you on product availability once production starts.

These newly produced items can be identified via the following methods:

Shipping case:
-
Manufactured date will state “01/26/09” or later
- The first five digits of the lot code will read “99026” or higher

Plastic Clamshell:
- The first five digits of the lot code will read “99026” or higher

Products that contain peanut butter from the new supplier are NOT AFFECTED by the recall and are safe to consume.  The new peanut butter cookies with a January 26, 2009 lot code or later should not be withdrawn from the market place.

Thank you for your patience.   Any other questions can be answered at our toll free line at (888) 421-4699.

Lofthouse Goes “Green”

Lofthouse Cookies has transitioned all plastic clamshell packaging to PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate) for our Frosted Sugar Cookies and Wire Cut Cookies. PETE is a great option for plastic packaging since it is the easiest plastic to recycle. Recycling is dependent on the end user but we have made it easier by using materials which are accepted by curb side recycling programs. Another added benefit is that all of our signature Frosted Sugar Cookies now have an extended shelf life of 28 days at room temperature versus 14 days in the previous container.

What are Trans Fats?

Trans fats are an unhealthy substance, also known as trans fatty acid, made through the chemical process of hydrogenation of oils. Hydrogenation solidifies liquid oils and increases the shelf life and the flavor stability of oils and foods that contain them. Trans fat is found in vegetable shortenings and in some margarines, crackers, cookies, snack foods and other foods. The FDA now requires Trans fat content on the Nutritional facts label of packaged food.

Lofthouse and the Trans Fat issue

Lofthouse has eliminated Trans Fat in all of our Thaw & Sell cookies while maintaining the same great taste and high quality product that our customers have always received.
